Public Group active 3 years, 2 months ago
International group that leads the world in highly, efficient, eco-compatible power transmission systems, with production plants in Italy, India, Argentina, China, South Africa and Brazil.
Founded in the 1930s as a manufacturing business focused on the production of sowing machines and equipment for agricultural works, over the years, the company has expanded and enjoyed increasing fame, becoming –as from midway through last century- one of Italy’s most important tractor manufacturers. From the 1970s onwards, Carraro concentrated its core business elsewhere, specialising in parts and becoming a key player in the world’s manufacturers of drive systems for agricultural and earth-moving machinery. The change lies in the group’s DNA, which, according to market contexts, has successfully adapted its structure and reviewed its industrial footprint. Hence we have the internationalisationphase that saw Carraro open production plants through to the 1990s, in the places to be referred to as the countries of the BRIC area.
Today, axles and transmissions continue to account for most of the Group’s turnover, however a gradual move has been underway for some time now, with the focus changing to evolved product types and new sector. On the one hand, traditional products are being enhanced in value thanks to the supply of new technologies: mechanics increasingly dialogue with electronics, heading towards mechatronics. On the other hand, the new frontier now takes the form of renewable energy solutions, such as Elettronica Santerno inverters for photovoltaic systems or reducers and gearing for wind power generators.
